Day-By-Day

Day 1

Sossusvlei, Namibia

Beneath a vast Namibian sky, where endless sand dunes dance in ochre hues, lies Sossusvlei. Sun-scorched clay pans hold secrets of ancient elephants, their footprints etched in time.

Deadvlei’s skeletal trees stand stark against the blinding whiteness, their petrified limbs reaching for a sky painted with fiery sunrises and star-studded nights. Sossusvlei whispers tales of desert resilience, its stark beauty etching itself onto your soul like the windblown sand.

  • Day Note

Upon arrival you will be met by one of our Safari365 representatives. From Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) you will fly over the Khomas Hochland and the Naukluft Mountains down the 1000m escarpment to Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert. This is a private light aircraft flight for 1 hour 10 minutes duration.

On the way: A sneak preview of Sossusvlei – the main attraction – as seen from the air will reveal an endless sea of copper-and-ochre sand dunes stretching to the Skeleton Coast and the Atlantic Sea.

When you’re there: Your must-do activity is an excursion into Sossusvlei. Wander about Dead Pan, with its eerie dream-like collection of petrified acacia trees and red dunes rising sheer from the salt-white pan. Climb a dune and capture the full force of a sea of red sand dunes as far as you can see… best experienced at sunrise.

Back at your lodge, take scenic game drives into the desert looking for creatures great, small and odd. Sunsets are saluted in traditional African fashion and the evening under the desert sky will lull you into a deep and peaceful sleep.
