Mana Pools Safaris

Discover Untamed

Wilderness in Zimbabwe

Embark on a safari into the raw heart of Africa at Mana Pools, Zimbabwe. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers an untouched wilderness that resonates with a timeless, primeval rhythm.

Imagine waking to the whispers of nature outside your tent, ready to experience the untamed splendour of this African jewel. Here, elephants quench their thirst at the river’s edge while predators stalk the wilderness. Feel the thrill of walking safaris and canoe journeys as you navigate the park’s iconic pools.

Mana Pools, one of Southern Africa’s truly wild places, is named after the four large pools carved by the Zambezi River thousands of years ago. These pools attract an abundance of wildlife, making it a renowned safari destination.

Covering 2,500 square kilometres (965 square miles), Mana Pools is one of the least developed national parks in Southern Africa. The landscape features river frontage, sandbanks, islands, and pools, surrounded by thick woodlands and extensive grasslands.

Expect to see a stunning array of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, zebra, lions, leopards, warthogs, elands, servals, hyenas, wild dogs, porcupines, jackals, vervet monkeys, and baboons. The birdlife is equally spectacular, with over 300 species recorded. The largest pool, “Long Pool,” extends six kilometres and hosts a great population of hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic wildlife. Walking safaris offer an exhilarating way to explore the park among the wildlife.

Mana Pools is also known for its Faidherbia albida woodlands. Trek northwards towards the Zambezi River to discover old river terraces and the iconic sight of light filtering through the trees, creating a cathedral-like atmosphere unique to Mana Pools.
